Yamaji Art ‘Emu Eggs’ to feature on Geraldton Foreshore

The artwork of two Yamaji Art senior artists will be transformed into three dimensional sculpted ’emu eggs’ to feature as a permanent public art installation on the Geraldton Foreshore later this year.

Yamaji Arts has partnered with the City of Greater Geraldton to produce and install the sculpture.

The sculpture evolved from the interpretation of two paintings – The Emu in the Sky by Margaret Whitehurst (Wajarri) and The Seven Sisters and the Hunter by Barbara Merritt (Badimaya), selected for their aesthetic, cultural and historical merits.

Both works were produced as part of the Ilgarijiri – things belonging to the sky project.

You can learn more about the project on the City of Greater Geraldton website.
