Each year we look forward to packing up and hitting the high way to attend the annual Revealed in Fremantle Western Australia.
The event is a forum for artist and art centre staff to attend and receive professional development and networking opportunities. Each year the even gets larger and larger with over 45 Aboriginal art centres from across WA travelling far and wide to attend.
This year we had the privilege of travelling down with 7 of our artist, giving them the opportunity to attend artist talks by other amazing Indigenous artist from all across Australia. Artist talks consist of sharing stories and personal accounts of how they have developed their own practice and navigate the often complex industry of Aboriginal visual arts. Artist get to hear first hand and learn from experiences from other artist and industry professionals about how to over come barriers and develop their practice.
Built into the forum are workshops that give artist the ability to learn new mediums that would not necessarily be available in their regional and remote communities.
The event also give new and emerging artist an opportunity to exhibit their works that contributes to their artist biographies and portfolios. This year Yamaji Art was successful in getting 3 new and emerging artist in to the exhibition; Ashley Fitzgerald, Lily-mae Kerley and Kyra Johnson, all exhibited their works.
