Yamaji Art Artists: Barbara Merritt, Margaret Whitehurst, Kyra Johnson & Andrea Green-Ugle, were commissioned to do a Artwork for the Department of Water & Environmental Regulation, to create a piece that was representative of knowledge & history of water across Yamaji Country.
“Water is a giver & sustainer of life. This story shows how water can come from many places such as rivers and streams, rock holes and from rain. All this water flows across our country giving life to our people, plants and animals. Our ancestors would walk the land hunting and gathering bush foods, land animals and fish. If there was no water we would not survive.”
