‘Ngaanung Gami Mia’ in Naaguja language means ‘My Grandmothers Place’.

I am a Naaguja woman and my painting is about the Chapman River and my two grandmothers birthing places. About the generations of Naaguja women who have been born and given birth in the times past. Our special, sacred place for women. NO MEN ALLOWED.

A place where we can take our daughters and sit and tell our stories and share our history, To remember.

Blue is the waters, green is the plants and trees, light green is the new growth, brown is the rocky places, purple is healing on the land and in the waters and white is the sacredness of all our rivers and waters.
