In this life today many of us constantly backwards reference – meaning drawing on our past as we sit in the present thinking about today and tomorrow ( the future). We do this so often that it is normal to us and this allows us to ask questions such as “Is there really a place for me in this new Australia where I can live and die with my cultural dreams? Where is this place for me to be just what I want to be?
This art installation piece draws on this backwards referencing using the old (emu egg shells, quondong seeds, sandalwood seeds, echidna quills, penny winkle shells) and the new ( resin, raffia).
