NAIDOC Bush Basket & Weaving
Yamaji Art is very proud to be a part of the nation wide celebrations for NAIDOC. Along with several other local MidWest Indigenous organizations, Yamaji Art provides programming for the week long festivities that happen in Geraldton by celebrating the local artistic talents of the Yamaji people.
Yamaji Art is proud to boast that it has among some of the most sought after weavers in the region. Bush Baskets sold through Yamaji Art are highly sought after and admired.
Yamaji Art offers two day workshops in how to bush basket weave. No matter what the skill level or previous knowledge, open public workshops were once again held at ACDC on Marine Terrance over two days in the first week in July.
Again, the workshops were a big hit with the public and the workshop was full with ladies having a good old yarn. The workshop was lead by Yamaji Art Artist, Bianca McNeair. Young and mature enjoyed chatting and weaving and helped each other along in their masterpieces.
The event was heralded a huge success by participants who want to make sure that this will be not only an annual event but perhaps a monthly event? Please contact Yamaji Art for more information
