Yamaji Art are pleased to announce the opening of the Gurawu – Share Sky exhibition in Central Park Building in Perth.
St John of God Hospital foyer was packed with indigenous art and art connoisseurs for the opening of Barbara Merritt’s first solo exhibition. The renowned Yamaji artist unveiled the show last Friday, with a collection of traditional dot paintings and more modern collages.
This exhibition aims to draw upon the multicultural fabric of Perth, the multiplicity of distinct cultures from around the world, a tapestry full of food traditions related to gathering, creating and serving a meal. These edible experiences come laden with tales of migration, homecoming, meeting places, and personal adaptation.
Hosted by the Combined Universities Centre for Rural Health (CUCRH), the exhibition will be held in Mt Magnet and Geradton.
Please Note: Yamaji Art will be closed from Friday April 12 until Thursday April 18th for the 2013 Revealed: Emerging Aboriginal Artists from Western Australia exhibition in Perth.
